Farzi Review: Stylish, Entertaining, and Smarter Than It First Looks

Farzi may look like a flashy crime thriller at first glance, but what makes it stand out is how well it blends ambition, satire, and tension into something consistently watchable. In my view, this is worth watching, especially if you enjoy crime dramas with personality instead of just seriousness.

The story follows Sunny, a talented but frustrated artist who gets pulled into the world of counterfeit money. What starts as a clever shortcut soon turns into a dangerous game involving law enforcement, criminal networks, and personal ego. The setup is simple enough to hook quickly, but the show keeps things engaging by constantly raising the pressure around him.

What actually works

The strongest part of Farzi is its energy and character dynamics. The series moves with confidence, and it knows when to be tense and when to be playful. Shahid Kapoor fits the role well because he brings both attitude and vulnerability to Sunny, which keeps the character from feeling one-note. The show also benefits from sharp supporting performances and a more stylish visual identity than most Indian streaming thrillers.

One thing that stands out even more: the show works best when it treats fake currency not just as a crime hook, but as a symbol of frustration, survival, and the desire to outsmart a system that already feels rigged.

What feels weak

It is not a perfect series. Some parts feel slightly stretched, especially when the story takes detours that do not always add much weight. A few scenes also feel more “cool” than necessary, which can make the tone uneven in places.

Who should watch it

If you liked The Family Man, Mirzapur, or stylish Indian crime thrillers with strong lead performances, this should work for you. But if you prefer very grounded or tightly realistic dramas, this may feel a little too polished at times.

Final verdict

My take: slick and engaging. What makes it enjoyable is that it never becomes dull, even when it is not doing anything revolutionary. It is a solid binge with enough style and tension to stay entertaining.
